We offer a state certified driver education course. This course is available to those 15 and 9 months and older.
The classroom portion of the course consists of 30-classroom hours, during which the fundamentals of defensive driving, junior operator restrictions and the overall rules/laws governing driving will be taught.
The behind the wheel portion of the course consists of 12-hours of driving instruction and 6-hours of observation. During this time students will gain practical driving experience in a variety of driving situations. Students will also receive instruction on how to perform the many maneuvers necessary to successfully navigate the ever changing driving environment.
Upon completion, students will receive a driver's Ed. Certificate of Completion which will allow for them to be eligible to apply for their road test.
Drivers who hold a Driver's Ed. Certificate of Completion will also receive discounted insurance rates of up to 20% depending on their insurance provider.
RMV Required Parents Class:
The RMV Required Parent Class is free to Alert students. The Parent Class is held at our 30 E. Main st. location from 6-8 pm the day of the third class of any session. Please sign up on our website.
NEW RMV POLICY: At least one parent or guardian MUST attend the parent class before a student can start on-road driving lessons. Parent Classes are good for 5 years. All classroom and driving lessons must be completed before the expiration date and can be applied to other siblings when proof of attendance is provided
If a parent or guardian has attended a Parent Class within the last 5-years, they will not need to reattend. If that class was taken at Alert, we have that information on file. If the Parent Class was taken at another school, we will need a photo copy of the Certificate of Attendance you received from that school.
